National Speakers Association Announces 2008-09 Board Officers

 (TEMPE, Ariz. - August 18, 2008) The National Speakers Association (NSA), the leading organization for professional speakers, elected four members of its 2008-09 NSA Board of Directors to Officer positions at the 2008 NSA Convention in New York, N.Y. 
 
Phillip Van Hooser, CSP, CPAE, of Princeton, Ky. assumes the President-Elect position; Kristin Arnold, CSP, of Scottsdale, Ariz. was elected Vice President; Shep Hyken, CSP, CPAE of St. Louis, Mo. assumes the Treasurer position; and Sarah Michel, CSP, of Colorado Springs, Colo. was elected Secretary.
 
NSA President-Elect, Phillip Van Hooser, CSP, CPAE, is a 19-year professional speaking veteran. An authority on leadership and service professionalism issues, through customized keynotes and training programs, Van Hooser helps organizations transform the way they lead their employees and serve their customers.  Van Hooser has written extensively on leadership and customer service topics including the best-selling book, Willie's Way: 6 Secrets for Wooing, Wowing and Winning Customers and Their Loyalty. As well as holding NSA's Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation, Van Hooser is a member of NSA's CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame.
 
Vice President of NSA, Kristin Arnold, CSP, is a high stakes meeting facilitator, trainer and keynote speaker.  Arnold has worked with thousands of senior executives, project managers and team leaders, challenging their traditional notions about teamwork.  Arnold is on the Executive Development Faculty in the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto.  She is the author of several books in the Extraordinary Team Series as well as a newspaper columnist and contributing author to myriad other team-based books and publications such as The IAF Handbook of Group Facilitation, Harvard Business Update, USA Today and Selling Power.  She currently serves on the National Board of Directors for the National Speakers Association (2005-8).  She also served as President of the Downtown Hampton (Virginia) Development Partnership (2001-2).

 Shep Hyken, CSP, CPAE is a speaker and author who works with clients who want to build loyal relationships with their customers and employees.  His business articles have been read in hundreds of publications, and he is the author of Moments of Magic™ and The Loyal Customer. His next book, The Cult of the Customer, published by John Wiley & Sons will be released in March 2009.  In 1983 Hyken founded Shepard Presentations and has since worked with hundreds of companies and associations. Some of his clients include American Airlines, Aetna, AAA, Anheuser-Busch, AT&T, Abbott Laboratories, AIG and American Express - and that's just a few of the A's! Hyken is married to Cindy and is the proud father of Brian, Alex and Casey.  When not speaking or with his family, he is playing hockey, golf or practicing magic tricks.

Certified Speaking Professional and NSA Secretary Sarah Michel specializes in interactive and high-energy keynotes and trainings on networking, MBTI, communication and customer retention.  She is the author of Perfecting Connecting, Learning to Speak the Language of Others by Telos publications and founded Perfecting Connecting® in Colorado Springs in 1996 offering facilitation, training and keynote presentations to organizations, associations and companies.  Michel is a member of both the International and National Speakers Associations and Past-President for the NSA Colorado Chapter.
